Driver communications

The first key to a maintenance program is the driver. The driver is responsible for understanding how equipment performs and that means identifying some of the tattletales of imminent failure. Drivers must be relied on to be able to communicate suspect conditions into a report that a technician can understand. The purpose of a driver inspection is to detect at least some failures before they become breakdowns. Drivers have to perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections and they should be taught how to conduct them.
